Anambra polls: APC defeats Labour Party in Peter Obi’s Polling Unit

The Labour Party (LP) suffered a setback on Saturday as its presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, failed to secure victory for his party at his polling unit during the ongoing Anambra governorship election.

According to official results announced around 3 p.m. at Polling Unit 019, Agulu Ward 11, Anaocha Local Government Area, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu, won with 73 votes, defeating the Labour Party’s George Moghalu, who garnered 57 votes.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) came third with 38 votes.

Obi, who had earlier cast his ballot at the same unit, had actively campaigned for the LP candidate ahead of the election.

The outcome marks a sharp contrast to his performance in the 2023 presidential election, where he secured over 95 per cent of the votes in Anambra State.
