The APC’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has met behind ‘closed doors’ with President Muhammadu Buhari at the president’s residence in Abuja.

Tinubu left in a hurry at the ‘Meet the mentor’ dinner held in his honour by the APC Progressives Sisters Network at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

The APC’s presidential candidate was said to have told the youths that he had an important meeting with the president which he must attend urgently.

The Punch reports that Tinubu said he had a superior appointment to attend, saying that late Thursday, the president called that he should be at his place by 9.45pm this evening.

The former governor of Lagos added: “What do I do? Cancel it and disobey my president? And it is a command, more or less. (He said) see me at 9.45pm. I can’t say I would boycott this event or downgrade it.

“I have got to be here to, first of all, seek your understanding. That is why there is always a pair for races like this. I have a vice presidential candidate.”

Though details of the meeting were not made public, it might not be unconnected with the fuel and naira scarcity currently plaguing the nation.

Tinubu had at one of his campaigns in Abeokuta, Ogun State, lamented the naira crisis, saying that fifth columnists were trying to sabotage the system so that the elections did not hold.
