In continuation of the ongoing end-of-year traffic monitoring across strategic corridors, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Shehu Muhammed, was in Akure where he visited the Governor of Ondo, Lucky Orinmisan Aiyedatiwa.

He congratulated the governor on emerging successful at the recently held gubernatorial polls in the state.

He also acquainted the governor with the ongoing FRSC end-of-year special patrol operations and traffic monitoring that brought him to Ondo State.

According to him, Ondo state was critical to the operations due to the number of corridors that existed in the State.

The Corps Marshal said that the Corps was outright committed to ensuring that crashes were reduced to the barest minimum in line with United Nations Decade of Action on Road Safety and Injury Prevention.

Corps Marshal placed emphasis on the need for the State Government to expedite actions on establishing Ondo State Road Safety Advisory Council to complement the efforts of National Road Safety Advisory Council led by the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima.

He also solicited the support of the State Government through provision of logistics so as to enhance the visibility of the Corps in the State.

The Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, MNI, who received the Corps Marshal on behalf of the Executive Governor, stated that the Corps Marshal’s visit was encouraging as it will boost security of lives and properties in the State.

He thanked the Corps Marshal for the Operation Zero Tolerance and the traffic monitoring of federal highways commenced by the Corps.

He pledged the readiness of the State Government to always support the Corps to actualise its mandate.
