Fayose expressed satisfaction with the turnout of voters in his hometown of Afao-Ekiti, located in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

The former governor arrived at his polling unit at St. David’s Primary School, Afao-Ekiti, which also serves as the ward collation centre, in the company of his son, Bolu Fayose, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly candidate for Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituency II.

Speaking shortly after casting his vote, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain predicted a landslide victory for the APC governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebanji.

According to him, the conduct of the election so far reflected a credible process.

“So far, so good. There are no incidents, no issues and no disruptions. What we are witnessing closely resembles a credible process. INEC is alert to its responsibilities, and this represents an improvement on previous exercises,” Fayose said.

He added: “Oyebanji has already won the election if you look at the state of affairs in Ekiti and the body language of the people. I am predicting an overwhelming victory for him.”

The former governor also commended security agencies for their professionalism and neutrality during the exercise.

“They are doing very well. You can see that they have adequate personnel on the ground. They have conducted themselves professionally and have not taken sides in the exercise,” he stated.

Fayose urged political stakeholders to accept the outcome of the election and allow the state to move beyond the electoral process and focus on governance.

He stressed the need for all actors to embrace the will of the people and work collectively towards the continued development and progress of Ekiti State.
