FG resumes repair on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Tuesday
The Federal Ministry of Works has announced that the replacement of the expansion joints of Kara Bridge, outbound Lagos, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, will continue on Tuesday.
According to a release issued by the Federal Controller of Works, Olayiwola Komolafe, on Saturday, the maintenance work is expected to last two weeks, ending on March 24, 2026.
“To facilitate this essential maintenance work, there will be a partial closure resulting in a narrowed road width, which will affect traffic travelling outward from Lagos at the Kara Bridge section.
“To reduce traffic congestion during the period of the repair works, motorists are advised to consider the following alternative routes: motorists travelling from Ikorodu to Mowe, Sagamu, and Ibadan may go through Shimawa or Mosinmi,” he stated.
Komolafe also urged motorists travelling from Lagos Island to use the Epe corridor through Ijebu Ode to reach Sagamu, Ibadan, and Mowe.
“Motorists are reminded that a shorter route may not necessarily be the fastest, and they are advised to plan their journeys early, obey traffic management directives, and drive cautiously around the work zone,” he said.
The controller stressed that the ministry would continue its efforts to ensure the safety, durability, and stability of the nation’s road infrastructure.
The Federal Ministry of Works had partially closed Kara, Magboro, and Arepo–Punch bridges along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway for six weeks from February 5, 2026, to carry out urgent repairs on expansion joints.
