MESSAGE ON INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING

On this International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026, with the theme, “The evidence is clear: invest in prevention. Break the cycle. #StopOrganizedCrime,” reminds us that prevention through education, awareness, family support, and community engagement remains one of the most effective tools in addressing substance abuse and criminal networks.

I call on governments, families, schools, faith-based organizations, and civil society to strengthen their collective commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and supportive environments where every child and young person can thrive, realize their full potential, and contribute meaningfully to society through sustained advocacy, care, and support systems.

Happy International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026.

Her Excellency,
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON
First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
