Gov Abiodun reiterates commitment to welfare, religious harmony
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to the socio-economic and spiritual welfare of residents of the state.
The governor also pledged to remain non-partisan in religious matters and to continue supporting programmes and projects that promote mutual respect and freedom of worship for all.
He spoke at the 75th Diamond Adoption Thanksgiving Service of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Yewa Provincial Headquarters, held at the church auditorium in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The governor, represented by the state Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Onasanya, said religious harmony remained crucial for peaceful coexistence and security of lives and property within the state.
“It is incumbent upon both the church and the government to persistently work and pray for the common good of all.
“The church must continue striving for greater understanding among members and align with the developmental goals of our administration by embracing positive values and virtues in tandem with the ‘Building Our Future Together’ agenda,” he said.
Abiodun also called on the church “to continue to seek God’s guidance for national unity and economic stability, as well as to keep praying for all political leaders for the betterment, growth, and development of the state and the nation at large.”
He noted that with the constant prayers of spiritual leaders, Nigeria will emerge strong again in all things.
He said, “The church stands as the conscience of society that is helping the country to realise the aspirations of its founding fathers.”
While appreciating the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, Yewa Provincial Headquarters, for not only promoting spiritual growth but also serving as a beacon of hope and support, especially in these trying times, the governor encouraged the church to continue offering comfort, guidance, and a strong sense of community, thereby fostering unity and creating a space where all will be welcomed.
Speaking at the event, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, represented by his immediate elder sister, Snr Mother in Israel Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, pledged the family’s commitment and dedication to the growth and development of the church.
He charged the congregation to remain steadfast in promoting the church’s values and ethics.
The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide, said the prayers by the church had been sustaining the country.
Elemide, therefore, solicited the continuous support of the church towards advancing the course of peace and progress in governance.
Earlier, in a sermon, His Eminence Apostle Gideon Babalola, who spoke on the theme “Ye are Gods,” said all Christians were created in God’s image to take dominion over all things.
He urged all to move away from sin and return to the place God originally put man before his fall.
In an appreciation note, the chief host at the event, Elder Biodun Sanyaolu, thanked the governors for their support towards the growth, development, and expansion of the church and solicited more support towards the completion of the church’s vicarage, which is billed to inaugurated soon
