Following a recent publication in which credit for facilitating the construction of the first and newly constructed vehicular bridge in Agboyi community was given to the chairman of Agboyi local government, Hon. Dele Osinowo, along with a picture of him taken on the new bridge, Agboyi Progressive Union, APU, has come out to set the record straight that Hon. Dele Osinowo’s claim is nothing but a fraudulent one. APU said neither Osinowo had any inputs in the facilitation of the bridge nor did he show up during the construction, and that Osinowo only came to take photographs on the bridge as a mere ‘tourist’ after it’s completion.

Reiterating that Osinowo’s claim was a complete act of fraud as he knows absolutely nothing about the making of the bridge, the group added that the bridge is a project of the federal government and was supervised by the Federal Ministry of Works and the Lagos State government.

Reacting to the incident, the Secretary of APU, who doubles as the Administrator of Agboyi Town Hall Community Management, Comrade Adebisi Musbau, berated Osinnowo for making a false claim, thereby asking him to desist from such an act.

“It’s misleading for an online media platform, Agboyi Voice, as sponsored by Mayor Dele Osinowo Agboyi, to have reported that Osinowo input was responsible for the conceptualization and completion of the Agboyi link bridge. We want to use this opportunity to ask them to desist from such acts.” Musbau warned.

In the same vein, Adebisi buttressed the claim that Osinowo knew nothing about the link bridge by relaying his (Osinowo) statement to prove his ignorance of the project. According to Adebisi, Osinowo’s said Agboyi link bridge would pass through Church Street in Alapere, while in actual fact, the bridge passes through Agboyi-Araromi-Ilaje, which is the layout that has existed for decades and was aligned solely in the survey, which serves as the blueprint till today.

He added that from the stage of the proposal to meetings and visitations by the federal government-constituted committee and the relevant agency in Lagos State, as well as the submission of surveys and dialogue on the project’s MOU, Mayor Dele Osinowo was not in the picture as he knew nothing about it.

However, while Agboyi Progressive Union commended the Federal government for initiating and completing the long-overdue project and Lagos State for its supervision role, it also acknowledged the Olu of Agboyi, Oba Monsuru Ladega, SSA, the former President on SDG, Her Excellency, Adegoke Orelope Adefulire, and Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for their roles in actualizing the project. Also, Hon. Femi Saheed was equally applauded for raising the matter of the bridge on the floor of the Lagos House of Assembly and not denying others who participated in the struggle their credit.

Equally, at the meeting held by the Agboyi Progressive Union on February 3, the group applauded the federal and state governments for the renovation of Agboyi Two Hall and the ongoing construction of a 40-bed maternity hospital as well as a jetty.

Elaborating on Mayor Dele Osinowo’s insensitivity to the plight of the Agboyi community as the chairman of the local authority, the group recalls his failure to visit the victims of flooding in Agboyi 1, 11, and 111, which affected most of the houses in the community during the last flooding.

While the Federal government, through its agency, and some non-government organizations showed concern by visiting the community to sympathize with the people and assess the level of havoc wrecked by the water disaster, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara, also invited the then humanitarian minister to Agboyi to see the effects of the flood. However, the chairman of the council under which Agboyi is, Dele Osinowo, at no time deemed it necessary to pay a visit to the community.

On a final note, APU thanked Dele Osinowo for the water project he executed in Agboyi. It was also advised that the project should be powered by solar energy since that is the only commissioned project he can boast of in Agboyi in the last 7 years.
