L-R: Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and his late brother, Haroun Hamzat

These are certainly not good times for the family of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State Dr. Obafemi Hamzat as the number two man in the state just lost  his half brother, Haroun, to the cold hands of death.

37 years old Haroun, on Tuesday succumbed to the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic.

The late Haroun Hamzat was said to be working as a medical doctor at one of the medical facilities in Agege area of Lagos before he tested positive to the virus.

A statement by the state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association confirmed the younger Hamzat’s death on Tuesday.

It read: It’s a dark moment in the Nigerian Medical Association, Lagos State, as we announce with deep regret the death of our very young colleague, Dr Haroun Hamzat. Its “sunset at dawn” as he was just 37 years old.

He worked as a medical officer at one of the PHCs under Orile Agege LCDA until his demise.

We commiserate with his immediate family, friends, associates, colleagues and staff of Lagos State PHC Board and indeed the medical fraternity of Lagos State.
