Delta State Governor and vice presidential candidate of the PDP, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has broken the silence on his WAEC certificate, saying it was missing.
He also said he got distinction in all his WAEC subjects in 1976.
There have been insinuations that the Delta governor did not have a school certificate and it had trended online
But Okowa clarified his position on the issue on Tuesday while inspecting ongoing projects at the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, in Isoko North Local Government Area.
The governor said there is misconception on his certificate issue, lamenting that people were playing politics with the issue.
According to Okowa, “Yes, I lost my WAEC certificate, but I have the print-out from Edo College, Benin City, which clearly stated that I have distinction in all subjects.’
The governor stated that the Higher School Certificate was attached and that it had been acknowledged by Edo College, saying that the school put it out there that he made an ‘A’ `B’ `B’.
He said he did not pride himself of his prowess, but that it was very difficult to make such grades in higher school at that time.
Okowa added that his high school result was the second-best nationally in 1976 when he finished and that many universities admitted him through Telegram at that time, as he had to start making choices of which to accept.
He said it was very clear that he finished medical school at the University of Ibadan when he was 21 years and some months.
