I want to improve standards of living in Benue – Dr. Kuraun

Governorship aspirant in Benue state, Dr. Jeffrey Kuraun has revealed how he intend to reduce unemployment, underemployment, increase productivity, and improve standards of living in the state.
In a statement obtained by Gatmash News, Dr. kuraun identify education and skills as the source of economic growth and community development and both must go hand in hand. “We will support entrepreneurial education and skills acquisition/development to reduce unemployment, underemployment, increase productivity, and improve standards of living in our state.
Entrepreneurial education will enable even graduates to start thinking of setting up their own businesses for self-employment and become self-reliant for a sustainable livelihood instead of relying on the government for the white-collar jobs”.
A blazing youth with a mission to empower, safeguard the future and overall development of his people intend to achieve this through Skills development. “Similarly, skills development is a vital tool to empower people, to safeguard their future and for the overall development of an individual. The development of a comprehensive skill set composed of Cognitive, Socio-emotional, Technical and Digital skills can contribute to structural transformation and economic growth by enhancing employability and labour productivity and help our people to become more competitive and successful in the 21st century labour market” he said.
Dr. Kuraun promised to establish Skill Certification Schemes in collaboration with the Private Sector in securing a better livelihood for Benue youths. “The Skill Certification Schemes will enable a large number of Benue youths to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood.
Skill certification will form the basis for a credentialing program in a particular trade or profession. We will establish the qualifications, requirements and standards to be met for granting certification to practitioners of particular occupations” he added.
