The minister of interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo writes:

Earlier today, I attended the Joint Meeting of the Body of Attorneys General and the General Council of the Bar, hosted by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).

This engagement, which seeks to strengthen the rule of law and balance public order with constitutional guarantees, brought together Commissioners for Justice and Attorneys General from various states.

In my address, I highlighted the decongestion of correctional facilities, the administration and documentation of foreign nationals, and the standardisation of statutory marriages as areas where intergovernmental collaboration can be improved upon.

The Ministry of Interior remains fully committed to working closely with the Body of Attorneys General and all justice sector stakeholders to deliver meaningful and lasting reforms.

In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, this engagement sought to build bridges of understanding, resolve jurisdictional frictions, and promote intergovernmental harmony for the benefit of all Nigerians.

The Ministry of Interior remains fully committed to promoting a modernised, secure, and collaborative governance framework that upholds the rule of law and protects the rights, dignity, and safety of every citizen.
