Human rights lawyer, Kayode Ajulo has called for the immediate release of human rights activist and co-convener of Our Mumu Don do, Deji Adeyanju.
Adeyanju and two others were arrested on Wednesday by the Police while leading a protest against Police involvement in politics.
Ajulo said “it is illogical that politicians and members of the NURTW disrupting legislative activities walk freely in Ondo state and another group invading AKwa Ibom House of Assembly while law abiding citizens are arrested for constituting themselves in an orderly manner to register their grievances against an undemocratic act by the Nigerian police.
“To the best of my knowledge, the protesters didn’t constitute any threat to public peace, they didn’t constitute any form of nuisance that could lead to their arrest.
“I call on the Inspector General of Police to release those arrested otherwise we will institute a court case against the Nigeria Police for unlawful arrest and detention of innocent citizens that would cause Nigeria some loss of funds.
