LADI ADEBUTU BECOMES NIGERIA’S PILLAR OF CREATIVE ARTS

A former Member of the House of Representatives, and aspirant for the 2023 Ogun State Gubernatorial race, Hon. (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu, was at the weekend, honoured with the Pillar of Creative Arts Award by the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN). The Award was in recognition for his continuous contributions towards the development of the industry in Nigeria.

Otunba Bolaji Amusan, Tampan National President, popularly known as “Mr. Latin” said the Association appreciates Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu for his ongoing support to the creative industry in Nigeria, and that the Pillar of Creative Arts Award is a deserving honour bestowed on Hon. Adebutu for his efforts and positive contributions to the industry.
It will be recalled that in 2017, Hon. Adebutu, presented a Motion on the Floor of the House of Representatives, which called for the Protection of Nigeria’s Indigenous Language Film Makers. Adebutu felt that the Motion should become a Law and subsequently sponsored a Bill to Amend the National Film and Censors Act Chapter N40, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, in order to expand the functions and membership of the Board to include representatives of the Association of Theatre Arts and Indigenous Language Film Producers and Practitioners. This was for the purpose of promoting and protecting the indigenous Nigerian Languages and Culture, as well as protecting intellectual property and preventing piracy.
In his response to the Award, Hon. (Dr.) Oladipupo Adebutu thanked the National Executives of Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, noting that every sector of the Nigerian society needs legal protection in order to thrive and boost local content. He reiterated his commitment to the support of creative arts industry at all times.
Adebutu is expected to present a Paper at the Tampan Conference of Nigerian Arts and Films 2021, which has been scheduled to hold 16-18th December, 2021 in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State.
