The aspiration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the re-election bid of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu have been endorsed by the Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN), Rev Stephen Adegbite, and the Chairman of the Lagos Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress, Chief Sesi Akinsanmi.
Addressing members of the State and Local Governments Working Committee of Asiwaju Grassroots Talk, AGT, a good governance advocacy group in Lagos at Galaxy Event Center, Ogudu, Adegbite said Tinubu stood head and shoulder above the other presidential candidates.
He noted that Tinubu had enhanced the quality of socio-economic life through many enduring legacy projects while in the saddle as the governor Lagos state between 1999 and 2007.
The CAN leader said: “Tinubu is the only presidential candidate who has a record of performance by which his capacity and readiness to rule Nigeria can be measured.
“Others may be good in their own right but for now the only thing they can give us is promises and we can no longer rely completely on mere promises.
“Experience has taught us that politicians in Nigeria are long on promises and short on delivery.
“That is where Tinubu is different. We all have seen and felt what he has done in Lagos.”
Adegbite then allayed the fears of Christians over the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC, assuring that Tinubu would be fair to all Nigerians, regardless of their religions.
Mrs Akinsanmi said Lagos had not been experiencing trade disputes because of the several workers-friendly policies of successive APC governments in the State.
The NLC chieftain, who attended the AGT voters sensitization seminar recently organised for the students of Lagos State University, and Lagos State University Of Education, LASUED commended governor Sanwo-Olu for doing more than his counterparts in ensuring that workers are happy in Lagos.
She added that many Lagos workers today are proud home or land owners, courtesy of Governor Sanwo-Olu who has allocated lands to them in some parts of the state, including the high-brow Lekki-Ajah axis.
“And we are saying the governor deserves a second term so he can continue with these giant strides. Sanwo-Olu has touched lives in various sectors.
“So it would be a risk to vote for a new person who may come and begin to maliciously reverse the good policies of this regime and set the state back. Those who truly love Lagos should not allow this to happen,” Akinsanmi added.
