The Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Hon Lanre Ogunyemi gave this commendation when he led members of the committee to Lagos State Model College, Ajah on an unscheduled visit to witness the resumption for academic activities in the school.

Ogunyemi stated that with what he and his colleagues have seen, it was obvious that the schools, teachers and pupils are ready for the new academic session, anchored on the provision of modern infrastructure by the state government. Hon. Ogunyemi also donated a sum of N300,000 to the Lagos State Model College, Badore, Ajah.

He made the donation on behalf of his daughter, Dr. Olubukola Ogunyemi, who was a student of the school. The lawmaker, who is representing Ojo Constituency 2 in the assembly, also used the opportunity to call on private organisations in the state to support the government on education.  “We are calling on more corporate organizations and wealthy individuals to support the government on education, and look into our riverine areas to support education there,” he said noting further that government cannot achieve the desired result alone without cooperation and support of all.

The lawmaker stated that with what he and his colleagues have seen during the surprise, they are impressed and happy that the school, the pupils and the teachers are ready and well prepared for the new academic session. “Despite coming early unannounced, we met the students and teachers on ground, a clear indication of their readiness for the new academic session,” Ogunyemi said.

He commended the state government for its efforts at developing the education sector in the state, saying the present state government has made education grow in the state through provision of modern infrastructure and incentives for teachers.
