Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Saturday predicted that the current situation in Nigeria would soon change for better.
Speaking at the annual thanksgiving service of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria which held at the Jesus Power Crusaders International Assembly in Jos on Saturday, Osinbajo noted that “Nigeria is a great country with huge potentials which needs to be nurtured and built by its citizens”.
He said though the current challenges were huge, there was biblical support to the fact that things would change for the better in no distant time.
He urged Nigerians to speak well of their country and not to confess negatively.
He commended PFN for organising the thanksgiving service, which he described as an opportunity to recognise and appreciate God’s goodness for the nation in times of difficulty, saying this makes God to do more.
PFN President, Bishop Wale Oke, in his sermon, said the challenges Nigeria was facing were prevalent and daunting, but would overcome according to God’s promises.
Meanwhile, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State and the General Overseer of the Evangelical Bible Outreach Ministries International, Prophet Isa El-Buba, on Saturday clashed over the removal of the state House of Assembly Speaker, Abok Ayuba.
Abok was on Thursday removed as Speaker in controversial circumstances by some lawmakers who elected Yakubu Sanda as the new Speaker.
Many had accused Lalong of being responsible for the change of leadership at the state House of Assembly which had thrown the Assembly into crisis.
But Prophet El-Buba who led a national prayer for Nigeria during a Thanksgiving Service organised by the PFN asked the governor to restore peace in the state Assembly
When it was time for Lalong to address the gathering, the governor denied any involvement in the crisis rocking the state House of Assembly saying he had no hand in the impeachment of the Assembly Speaker.
Lalong said, “The House of Assembly is an autonomous body that runs its affairs independently. Having served as a Speaker who was also impeached, I have no hand in the running of the House, not to talk of the change of its leadership.”
