A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Kayode Ajulo has hailed the transmission of power by the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The learned silk also applauded President Bola Tinubu for sticking to the constitution and not swayed by sentiments.

Ajulo also urged the Ondo State House of Assembly to put the interest of the state above partisan interest in discharging their constitutional duties.

In an interview, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria said the handover of power to the Deputy “is exactly what we demanded. That is the simple and unambiguous constitutional requirement that should not be subjected to any whims and fancies of anyone.

“The needful has been done and I wish the Governor soonest recovery as I thank everyone including the President for ensuring the activation the constitutional provision despite several political caprices.

“I enjoin the State Assembly to answer their commission. They are the representatives of the people and that should be demonstrated at all time”.

The crisis between Governor Akeredolu and his deputy began after he returned to the country from a medical vacation in Germany.

Thereafter, the state House of Assembly commenced an impeachment process against the deputy governor over allegations of gross misconduct.

The development had polarised the Assembly and the State Executive Council as well as the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) resulting in a meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa with the warring factions.

However, the dust raised by the governor’s refusal to handover seemed to have been rested with his decision to transmit power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to pilot the affairs of the state in an acting capacity.
