Ondo South senatorial seat: Fmr Speaker Jumoke Akindele sets for consultation, engagement 

NOTICE OF INTENT TO ENGAGE AND CONSULT ON THE ONDO SOUTH SENATORIAL SEAT

Dear Esteemed Compatriots,

Following the declaration today of the Ondo South Senatorial seat as vacant, consequent upon the confirmation of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, CFR, as an Ambassador Designate, I take this opportunity to convey my profound appreciation to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Under his visionary leadership, Nigeria is being repositioned for sustainable growth, stronger institutions, and renewed hope for all citizens. His commitment to economic reforms, national cohesion, and empowerment of women and youth continues to inspire Nigerians across generations and geopolitical divides.

I also extend my respect and appreciation to the leadership of the Senate, particularly the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, whose statesmanship, dignity of purpose, and commitment to legislative excellence have strengthened Nigeria’s democratic architecture and amplified the voice of the Senate as a stabilising force in national governance. I commend the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, for his strategic leadership, tireless advocacy for effective lawmaking, and his commitment to legislative oversight to improve lives across our nation.

To the Senate as the apex legislative institution in Nigeria, I salute your collective dedication to due process, constitutionalism, and the advancement of good governance, even in the most challenging moments. Your work is vital to the growth and progress of our nation.

I also wish to eulogise the exemplary display of legislative dexterity, competence, unwavering patriotism, and uncommon initiative by my brother, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, during his tenure. His service to Ondo South has been characterised by impactful motions, strategic interventions in infrastructure development, and advocacy that placed the interests of our people squarely at the centre of national discourse. Senator Ibrahim’s stewardship has earned him the respect of colleagues, constituents, and all who have witnessed his uncommon initiatives in duty. His legacy of service stands tall and remains an enduring benchmark for representation.

Equally, I wish to acknowledge and commend His Excellency, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, whose leadership of the party in Ondo State has made the All Progressives Congress a home for all. His consistent engagement with citizens, strategic direction for party growth, and commitment to unity have strengthened our collective purpose. Most recently, the successful conclusion of his ingenious statewide thank-you tour underscored his closeness to the people, his servant-leadership posture, and his unrelenting focus on the welfare of Ondo citizens. Through the Our Ease Agenda of our visionary Governor, aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, we have witnessed positive effects on education, empowerment initiatives, and community development that are deepening hope and transforming lives across Ondo State.

I extend my sincere gratitude to our party leaders and stakeholders, especially the leadership of the APC in Ondo State, for wholeheartedly keying into the Renewed Hope vision of President Tinubu, and for the unity, discipline, and strategic focus you continue to demonstrate in advancing our shared goals. I equally appreciate the people of Ondo South Senatorial District for standing unwaveringly behind Senator Jimoh Ibrahim throughout his exceptional representation. Your support, vigilance, and trust have ensured that Ondo South’s voice has been strong, respected, and impactful at the national level.

It is in view of this remarkable precedent that I recognise the type of representation Ondo South deserves requires corresponding energy, vision, and steadfast commitment. The gains achieved so far must not be left unprotected or allowed to diminish. Therefore, with a deep sense of responsibility, continuity, and dedication to progress, I humbly notify you of my intention to begin engagements and consultations with stakeholders, party loyalists, and the good people of Ondo South Senatorial District on the possibility of offering myself as a candidate for the Ondo South Senatorial seat.

Having served our people in multiple capacities, first and foremost as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, as a member of the Governing Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, as Honourable Member and former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, the first and only woman to occupy that position in the history of the State, I bring a proven record of legislative competence, ethical leadership, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of the people. I am motivated not by ambition alone, but by a profound desire to sustain the momentum, protect the gains already made, and elevate Ondo South’s representation to an even higher level in the National Assembly.

Therefore, in this unfolding journey of service and purpose, I respectfully seek your prayers, counsel, and support as we embark on this journey together. Let us ensure that Ondo South continues to enjoy representation that is vibrant, responsive, and transformative.
