Osoba, Abiodun, Daniel, Amosun to lead Ogun APC 2027 campaign

Former Governor of Ogun State and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and his successor, former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, are among those picked to spearhead the campaign of the All Progressives Congress in the state ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a document signed by the state chairman of the party, Yemi Sanusi, and made available to journalists on Tuesday, Governor Dapo Abiodun was named Chairman of the APC Campaign Council, while the party’s governorship candidate and Senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Adeola, fondly called Yayi, is the co-chair. Former Senator representing Ogun East, Senator Lekan Mustapha, is the Director-General.

Daniel and Amosun, according to the document, were designated Deputy Grand Patrons of the campaign council, while another former governor and national leader of the party, Chief Olusegun Osoba, is the Grand Patron of the council.

Other members of the 156-member campaign committee include the Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, and the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, who will both serve as Deputy Chairmen of the campaign team.

The state party chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, will serve as the Vice Chairman, while the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbo Talabi, and the Minister of State for Health, Dr Kunle Salako, will serve as Vice Director-General, Campaign Operations, and Vice Director-General, Administration, respectively.

The party, in the official lists released on Tuesday, also named members of various committees saddled with the responsibility of driving its campaign and mobilisation machinery across the 20 local government areas of the state.

Explaining the composition and responsibilities of the campaign council, Sanusi said, “The campaign council comprises party leaders, political stakeholders and other key members of the APC, who are expected to coordinate grassroots mobilisation, media and publicity, logistics, contact and mobilisation, youth and women engagement, as well as other critical aspects of the campaign.

“The committees have been constituted to strengthen the party’s structures and ensure effective coordination of its activities ahead of the 2027 elections.”

Sanusi urged members of the various committees to work collectively towards securing an overwhelming victory for the APC in the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.

He said, “The members of the various committees are therefore urged to work collectively towards securing an overwhelming victory for the APC in the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.”

The unveiling of the campaign structure, according to the statement, marks a major step in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections, coming as the party intensifies its mobilisation and consolidation efforts across Ogun State.
