Barau Jibrin: Permutations leaning towards a Tinubu victory in 2027

Barau Jibrin, deputy president of the senate, says Nigeria’s political scenario tilts towards President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Barau spoke during the inauguration of campaign committees for Dawakin Tofa and Rimin Gado LGAs in Kano state.

In a statement issued on Sunday by Ismail Mudashir, his media aide, the deputy senate president said assessments by political analysts and developments in the country point to a possible victory for Tinubu.

“Based on the assessments of political analysts and the current state of Nigerian politics, all indications suggest that, by Allah’s grace, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the presidential election,” he said.

Barau urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to work together to secure victory for the party’s candidates in the 2027 general election.

He expressed appreciation to party leaders, elected representatives, local government chairmen, Abba Yusuf, the Kano governor; and other stakeholders for their support and commitment to the APC.

The deputy senate president said the party would sustain the unity and cooperation it has achieved in the state.

He also described Kano as a politically important state because of its large number of registered voters, saying it deserves greater attention and development opportunities from the federal government.

Barau said Yusuf’s decision to move from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the APC was a strategic one that increased Kano’s political relevance and improved its access to development opportunities.

He expressed confidence that the political alignment of the governor, lawmakers, local government chairmen and councillors under the APC would translate into benefits for residents.

Barau said the campaign committees were constituted to include party leaders, members of executive committees, former and serving legislators, councillors, local government chairmen, new party members and respected elders.

He urged members to mobilise voters and campaign for APC candidates across all levels of government.

“What is required of you is to play your part actively in securing victory. Mobilise, campaign and ensure that all APC candidates emerge victoriously from top to bottom,” he said.
