PHOTOS: Agboyi community hosts Ladega Ibrahim, asks him to contest for Agboyi-Ketu LCDA chairman
As all is beginning to take shape towards the next local government elections in Lagos State, sons and daughters of an ancient island, Agboyi, have urged their illustrious son, Prince Oladega Kehinde Ibrahim, a former Special Assistant on Politics (South West) to former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, to throw his hat into the ring to contest for the chairmanship post of the Agboyi-Ketu Local Development Authority so he can take over the mantle of leadership of the council from the outgoing chairman, Mayor Dele Osinowo.
While the desire of the community dwellers to see Oladega become the man that will direct the affairs of their local council will not be entirely new to anyone who is in tune with happenings around Agboyi because of the esteem in which Prince is held by his people, they, however, formally presented their request to him on 23rd Sunday, 2025.
In their numbers at a carnival-like gathering, the community in one voice demanded that Oladega should contest for the chairmanship post of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA in the on-coming local government elections in Lagos State even as they pledged their total support for him.
Although one or two persons around the community are said to be nursing the ambition of becoming the chairman of the council, it is however significant and worthy to note that Oladega is the only person whom the community has unilaterally endorsed to become their local council chairman, just as all the divisions that make up the Agboyi community, which include Agboyi 1, 2, and 3, Oko Agbon, and Araromi Ilaje, are in unison to support Oladega to become. the next chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
A source revealed that Oladega’s choice of the Agboyi people to run and become the next chairman of their council is borne out of love and the expended effort of the prince to see the ancient community experience development. His efforts over the year to ensure the state government looked in the direction of the community earned him the name many have come to know him as, Oju Agboyi (Eye of Agboyi).
Prince Oladega Kehinde Ibrahim is a mass communication graduate with experience that is close to twenty years as a broadcaster. He’s also a reputable event compere. As a politician and a member of the All Progressives Congress, he’s played numerous roles that include being a member of presidential campaign committees as well as governorship. His steadfastness in the party attracted him to be appointed as the Special Assistant on Politics (South West) to the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
