Renowned Nigerian gospel artiste and ordained pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Bolaji Adedotun Olanrewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji or “Big B,” has passed away at the age of 50.
His death was confirmed in an official statement released by his family on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
According to the statement, the beloved gospel minister died on Easter Saturday after a brief illness.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olanrewaju, affectionately known as ‘Big B,’ a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in both the church and the music industry,” the family announced.
“Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday, 19th April 2025, after a brief illness.”
The family expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing it as an irreplaceable void in their hearts and in the lives of those he inspired through his music and ministry.
“Bolaji’s life was a testament to his passion for music, his unwavering faith, and his dedication to uplifting those around him. His legacy is not only in the melodies he created but in the lives he touched and the unquantifiable joy he spread,” the statement added.
The family said they are taking comfort in the belief that he is now with the Lord, urging the public to respect their privacy during this time of mourning.
“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received and ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers.”
They also noted that funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course.
“Details regarding the obsequies will be shared in due course as we come together to celebrate Bolaji’s remarkable life and legacy.”
He is survived by his wife, children, and extended family.
