MESSAGE ON THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FAMILIES 2026
(MAY 15, 2026).

On this International Day of Families 2026, I join the global community in recognizing the central role families play in shaping our societies and nurturing the next generation.

This year’s theme, “Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing,” draws urgent attention to the growing disparities that affect family stability and the development of our children. It reminds us that the wellbeing of every child is deeply connected to the strength, security, and support systems available to their families.

As we mark this important day, I call on all stakeholders including both public and private sector, civil society, and communities to work together in advancing family-centered initiatives that promote inclusion, equity, and sustainable development.
Let us remain committed to building stronger families and a more just society, where no child is left behind and every home becomes a foundation of love, values and prosperity.

Happy International Day of Families

Her Excellency
Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, CON
First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
