Supreme Court affirms Tinubu’s election, dismisses Atiku’s, Obi’s petitions

The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the February 25 presidential election.

In an unanimous decision, the seven-man panel dismissed the appeals of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi for lacking merit.

The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal by Atiku Abubakar and the PDP against the September 6 judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), affirming the election of President Bola Tinubu.

In the lead judgment read by Justice John Okoro, which the the seven-man panel unanimously with, the court resolved all the seven issues identified for determination against the appellants.

The other panel members are: Justices Uwani Abba-Aji, Mohammed Garba Lawal, Ibrahim Saulawa, Adamu Jauro, Tijani Abubakar and Emmanuel Agim.

The court upheld the judgment of the PEPC and proceeded to affirm Tinubu’s victory.

OBI

The Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal by Peter Obi and the Labour Party against the September 6 judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), affirming the election of President Bola Tinubu.

In the lead judgment read by Justice John Okoro, which has been supported by the seven-man panel, the court argued that the issues in Obi’s appeal were similar to that of Atiku Abubakar which were already resolved.

The court upheld the judgment of the PEPC and proceeded to affirm Tinubu’s victory.
