Nigeria’s President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has called for a thorough investigation into the Adamawa Supplementary Governorship Election, which took place on Saturday.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Tinubu congratulated the winners of the supplementary governorship elections in Kebbi and Adamawa States, as well as all those elected into the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly.

However, Tinubu expressed concern over the controversy surrounding the Adamawa election, and urged police authorities to “fully investigate all that transpired.” He also called on all aggrieved parties to “pursue legitimate means of addressing their grievances.”

Tinubu praised the largely peaceful atmosphere that characterized the supplementary election, which he said was a “further testimony that our citizens have accepted democratic norms and have unalloyed faith in the electoral process.” He urged the newly elected officials to prioritize the service of their constituents.

“These victorious men and women have earned the trust of their people,” Tinubu said.

“With the conclusion of the 2023 elections, I now welcome all of us who have been elected to brace up to serve our people with diligence and dedication and to join hands with me as your President-elect in the pursuit of our agenda to renew the hopes of our people in a better, stronger, more secure, economically vibrant, and prosperous Nigeria.”

Tinubu’s call for an investigation follows reports of violence and irregularities during the Adamawa Supplementary Governorship Election.

The President-elect’s statement underscores the importance of transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s democratic process.
