Tinubu beats Amaechi, Osinbajo to pick APC presidential ticket

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has won the presidential ticket of the ruling party after scoring a landslide victory at the just concluded convention of the party in Abuja.

Tinubu polled 1,271 votes to defeat his closest rival, former Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi who scored 316 votes, followed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who scored 235 votes to come third on the log.

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, who was touted by the National Chairman of the party prior to the convention came a distant fourth with 152 votes

Some aspirants withdrew from the contest before votes began, most of them declaring their support for Asiwaju Tinubu.

There will now be a three-horse race for the 2023 presidency with the emergence of Tinubu.

He will slug it out with the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar and the candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi.
