Tinubu mourns Onyeka Onwenu

President Bola Tinubu has extended his profound condolences to the family of the late Onyeka Onwenu, according to a statement by a presidential aide.

Onyeka Onwenu was a renowned singer, songwriter, actor, journalist, activist, and politician.

Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity), stated on Wednesday that President Tinubu mourns the passing of the “Queen of Songs.” He highlighted her inspiring and melodious rendition of “One Love” in the 1990s, which evoked a fervor of fellowship and harmony.

The President recalled the many artistic contributions of the late musical icon in promoting public good, noting her classic collaboration with King Sunny Ade on “Wait for Me,” a melodic campaign for family planning in the 1980s.

President Tinubu celebrated the life of the versatile and immensely talented artist, who excelled in various forms of artistic expression, bringing joy and laughter to many.

The President extended his condolences to the entertainment industry, the Imo State Government, and the numerous fans of the departed star over this immeasurable loss.

President Tinubu prayed for the repose of the deceased artist’s soul, hoping she finds a place where the music never fades and where there is “Dancing in the Sun.”

The President emphasized that Ms. Onwenu lives on through her immortal masterpieces.
