Uche Nwosu dismisses defection rumours, reaffirms APC loyalty

Former Chief of Staff to the Imo State Government and ex-governorship candidate, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, has firmly dismissed rumours of his alleged defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), reaffirming his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nwosu, who revalidated his APC membership during the party’s ongoing e-registration exercise in his ward, Eziama Obaire, Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State, described the move as a clear statement of commitment to the party he helped establish.

Addressing party faithful and community members, Nwosu urged his supporters and residents to turn out in large numbers for the registration exercise and remain actively engaged in the political process.

He stressed the importance of grassroots participation, political awareness, and sustained support for the APC at all levels of governance.

Reacting to speculation about a possible defection to the ADC, the former governorship candidate described the claims as unfounded, noting that as a founding member of the APC, he had no reason to abandon a party he helped build.

“I remain a committed member of the APC. I will not abandon a house I helped to build,” Nwosu said.

He further reaffirmed that former Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, alongside members of the Rescue Mission political family, remain steadfast within the APC.

The event attracted key party stakeholders, including the ward chairman and executives, the ward councillor, the President General of Eziama Obaire, the Director General and executives of the Ugwumba Movement, and the Eze-Elect of Eziama Obaire. Former executive chairmen from Nkwerre, Orsu, and Isu Local Government Areas were also in attendance.

The gathering underscored ongoing grassroots mobilisation within the APC in Imo State as the party positions itself ahead of future political engagements.
