Heavily armed bandits have abducted the wife and daughter of the Plateau State Commissioner for Environment, Usman Bamaiyi.
Bamaiyi is one of the aspirants for a seat in the House of Representatives on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
It was gathered that the bandits broke into the Gindiri residence of Bamaiyi in the early hours of Saturday to carry out the abduction of his wife and daughter.
Sources said the Gindiri general area is under siege as terrorists continue to terrorise the residents without any signs of reprieve in sight.
The spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, Gabriel Ogaba, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), confirmed the incident in an interview with our correspondent on the phone on Saturday morning, saying that the command received a signal about the incident around 2:30 am.
“We are aware of the incident. The police have swung into action and are on the trail of the kidnappers,” he said.
