2027: Gboyega Isiaka declares interest in Ogun governorship seat
A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has expressed interest in contesting the Ogun State governorship seat for the fourth time.
Isiaka, who represents Imeko-Afon/Yewa North Federal Constituency, previously contested for the position in the 2011, 2015, and 2019 general elections.
Popularly known as GNI in political circles, he made this known on Sunday during a media engagement held in Abeokuta, where he formally declared his intention to join the Ogun governorship race.
Isiaka, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, stated that no aspirant has shown as much commitment to the Ogun project as he has, describing himself as the most qualified for the position.
“I know the terrain. No individual has shown as much interest in the Ogun project as I have,” he said.
He noted that several factors worked against his previous attempts but maintained that his time to govern the state is near.
Isiaka added that he possesses the quality, knowledge, financial capacity, and other necessary attributes to contest and win the election.
He said, “I am the next governor of Ogun State. I have all it takes to administer our dear state. I am ready for the race. I will contest alongside other aspirants. I cannot be pushed aside. I am determined to run and I am not backing down.
“I have the quality, knowledge, and experience required. I am a bona fide indigene of Ogun State. I have traversed the length and breadth of the state during my campaigns. I am not a neophyte in Ogun politics.”
He also revealed that he has been consulting with political leaders and stakeholders across the state regarding his ambition.
Isiaka pledged to take Ogun State to the next level by building on the economic blueprint of the current administration led by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
“Ogun State is doing well in terms of economic growth under the present administration. I will build on this to make the state more economically vibrant. We will take advantage of the state’s proximity to Lagos to further drive development.
“I want to build on the achievements of Governor Abiodun.
“The seaport is possible, oil-producing status is achievable, and there is a need to scale up infrastructure, as well as improve healthcare and education. All these are key to improving the quality of life for residents, and that is what drives our passion for the task ahead,” he said.
