Dogara, Ayade, Masari, Ekwunife rally support for Tinubu re-election
Ahead of the national convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has canvassed support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 polls.
Dogara’s position was reinforced by former Speaker and ex-Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Bello Masari, former Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade, and Senator Uche Ekwunife during a road march and environmental awareness activity held in Abuja on Monday as part of preparations for the party’s national convention scheduled for Friday.
Dogara highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability, noting that the initiative aligns with global concerns about climate change.
He said the exercise provided an opportunity for the party to demonstrate accountability and connect with Nigerians ahead of the 2027 poll.
Dogara also urged patience with ongoing reforms under the Tinubu administration, noting that while the reforms may be challenging, their long-term benefits would justify the process.
“As the benefits of these reforms begin to materialise, Nigerians will see clearly why the President should be returned,” he said.
Ayade, who co-chaired the sub-committee, expressed confidence in the party’s readiness to conduct a peaceful and successful national convention, while also rallying support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
He said the exercise demonstrated the party’s “capacity, energy and vitality” to organise a hitch-free convention.
According to him, the APC is repositioning itself with a people-oriented agenda. He commended the cleanliness of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), attributing it to effective environmental management, and praised the party for what he described as a well-organised and coordinated process.
“We have shown that we have the capacity to drive this convention in absolute peace. As a party, we are reloading to create a new Nigeria with a clear focus on putting the people first,” Ayade said.
He added that the event would culminate in a symbolic dance to signal the party’s preparedness for the 2027 elections and reaffirm support for President Tinubu.
Ekwunife aligned with Ayade’s remarks and expressed appreciation to key party leaders, including Masari, who chairs the Convention Central Coordination Committee and the former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, the national Chairman of the party, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, represented by Hon Chidi Duru that participated in the march.
She said the APC was not only prepared for its convention but also fully mobilised for the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that the party would secure a landslide victory.
“We are prepared, confident, and ready. In 2027, APC will return President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima with overwhelming support,” she said.
Masari commended the organisers of the road march, describing it as a strong indication of the party’s preparedness for both the convention and the next electoral cycle.
“We are ready for the convention. What you have seen today is clear evidence that APC is prepared,” he said, adding that challenges are a natural part of life and do not diminish the party’s resolve.
The event formed part of activities leading up to the APC national convention, with party leaders expressing optimism about both the success of the gathering and the party’s prospects in the 2027 general elections.
