Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday arrested the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Nsima Ekere.
Ekere is alleged to have diverted funds to the tune of ₦47 billion through registered contractors of the agency.
The news of the politician’s arrest was made known by the commission’s spokesperson Wilson Uwajaren.
Ekere is the coordinator of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s Presidential bid in Akwa Ibom. He’s also a former Deputy Governor of the state.
The former NDDC boss was the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Akwa Ibom in the 2019 elections.
Nsima, 56, was the agency’s Managing Director between 2016 and 2018
