Lagos LG Primaries: Tinubu should be ready to lose in 2027, Dele Osinowo’s aide threatens …slams party leadership

Azeez Opeyemi Ahmed, the media aide to the outgoing chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Mayor Dele Osinowo, has threatened that All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, President Bola Tinubu, would fail woefully in his re-election bid come 2027.

Ahmed issued the threat on his Facebook page following the decision of APC leadership in Lagos State to adopt consensus mode for the local government election primaries that are slated for May 9.

While Opeyemi accused a few top people of writing names of to-be candidates, he went ahead to slam the Lagos party leadership for its decision to adopt a consensus mode of primaries, saying the decision is a fake strategy that lacks sincerity.

“The party is not sincere with its guidelines, from direct to indirect to consensus. We can do better. Let’s give a sense of belonging to everyone. Tinubu needs to win Lagos , but if a few are writing names at the top and using fake strategy to call for consensus at the bottom, then Tinubu should be ready to lose come 2027.” Ahmed said.

Meanwhile, those who should be in the know are of the opinion that it is most likely that Azeez Opeyemi Ahmed is speaking the mind of his boss, Mayor Osinowo, who might not be comfortable with guidelines adopted by the party leadership to pick the APC candidates for the July 12 local government election in Lagos State. It is also alleged that Osinowo might have seen that the guideline will not work in the favor of his preferred aspirant, thereby his media aide resorting to issuing a threat against President Bola Tinubu as regards the 2027 election, in which all meaningful stakeholders and Nigerians are asking Asiwaju to give the presidency another shot.

However, a concerned resident of Agboyi-Ketu has accused Azeez Ahmed of being insincere, dishonest, and hypocritical by walking the shameful route he took. The resident alleged that Ahmed’s boss, Mayor Osinowo a beneficiary of the same consensus primaries guideline that they have suddenly found to be undemocratic for reasons best known to them. The resident went on to further say that if Asiwaju ever loses in Agbo-Ketu LCDA, it will never be as a result of a guideline adopted for local government primary elections, but rather, it will be on account of the demolition of the ancient community of Odoogun as well as the Owode Onirin spare parts market, in which Osinowo is alleged in the media to be the brain behind.

Continuing “ In his first appearance in 2013, when he returned from London, he clinched the position of the SLG while several other party faithful remain uncompensated to date. From SLG, he was imposed as the chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA by the late Senator Bayo Osinowo, and four years later, he was also imposed on the people of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, a position that made him so powerful that he turned himself into a land developer whereby Ajelogo land was given to a developer and several millions of naira were made through the sale of the backdoor estate.”
He concluded by alleging that Ahmed’s outburst might not be unconnected with Osinowo’s arrangements to impose a stooge in the person of Omogbolahan Bashir Elewedu as his successor.
