NASS PRIMARY: Fear of Losing to Bayo Osinowo Grips Ashafa as he Battles for Survival

If information reaching us is anything to go by, all may not be well in the camp of one of the aspirants of Lagos East senatorial district, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, as the order of the APC National Working Committee that a fresh primary should be held has thrown his camp into confusion, with the Senator said to be running from pillar to post over fear of imminent defeat that is believed to be staring him in the face.
Information gathered has it that, aside of the controversies that have trailed the primary election between Honorable Bayo Osinowo and Ashafa that is meant produce candidate for Lagos East senatorial district, the NWC, it was also learnt cancelled the exercise on the ground that the election was not slated to hold yesterday, 4th October. It was on that basis a fresh exercise has been ordered.
With the order of NWC, Gbenga Ashafa’s self acclaimed victory has been discredited. Meanwhile, going by the figures of the results of the election made available to us by the Special Assistant on Media to Osinowo, Ladega Ibrahim, Honorable Osinowo defeated him with a very wide margin. While Osinowo had 247743, Ashafa scored 20.385. Osinowo, better known as Pepper also reportedly defeated Ashafa in his own ward.
While finding made it clear Ashafa had never stood for primary election as he had all along been favored by the party, this reason sources revealed it’s not unconnected with why the second term senator has been running from pillar to post, so he can win the party ticket at the primary. Fear of defeat, it is believed made him became so desperate that he resulted into doing all sort of pranks to emerge party candidate. It is believed it was out of desperation he allegedly sponsored an advertorial, congratulating him as winner of the primary election in The Nation newspaper. It is in the same vein, Ashafa is accused to have sponsored rumor that the party had disqualified his opponent, Osinowo and that he had been endorsed as consensus candidate by the party. In the same vein, he was alleged to have tried pulling strings to see APC at the national level favor him, but ended in futility. As at the time of filing in report, the rescheduled primary had kicked off.
