Setting the Record Straight: Segun Blessing Composed trending song Ehn Ehn
By AjikeOkin
Oh! How time flies . Just like yesterday this song has finally found its way back from the doldrums of history.
As a regulee at the then popular entertainment night out in Surulere known as *CLUB 68 at Adeniran Ogunsanya in the 90’s. The likes of Segun Blessing, Dipo Gattos, Yinka Best, Arabian Jerry* were the reigning *Juju Music Champions* keeping Lagos nightlife alive. Club 68 owned by *Mr Tola Wilfred* may God rest his soul was a place for the big boys and girls of that era. Every Musician that performed there had their own crowd.
*I remember vividly well how Segun Blessing was fond of composing songs for his fans. He had special songs for every fan he came in contact with. The song Ehn Ehn was composed for Tunde Ceruti way back then in the 90’s . Tunde was at that time into Promotion, ticket reservation, and computer operation .*
Segun Blessing has created many songs in time past which today’s musicians pick up without acknowledging. It didn’t come to me as a surprise when in recent time a young artiste sang the song *Ehn Ehn* which many thought was dead. As usual gentleman Segun Blessing would have let go but not only did the lady sing his song but in her own case made matter worse by showing pride towards the originator by using proverbs to talk to him.
When I saw Segun Blessing’s video in reaction to the ladies attitude it was like watching a Professor taking a fresher back to primary one , carefully educating her on the do’s and don’t of music business while also taking her down memory lane by singing many of his compositions which different juju musicians play regularly at gigs.
Though I haven’t met this lady one on one but I have seen her from far at different hangout in time past either playing at the show of another senior female musician in Redaniel Ogudu or playing music at Officers mess in Sabo with a popular male juju musician.
**Not until lately did I stumble on her video singing Demola Suzi’s song Dokita and doing it so soothingly well with Ikale dialect **
As much as I enjoy her musical style , boldness and suave honest advice for this beautiful babe is for her to thread jejely and learn from other older Female Juju Musicians who are highly respected and who are doing very well today.
Madam get off your high horse and give honour to whom honour is due ooo. Handsome Segun No Be your Mate for the Industry ooo
