Mega Tribute Concert: Celebrating the Icon of Comedy, Baba Sala

The entity called Nigeria recently suffered a big loss when the country lost one of her biggest entertainers, a foremost comic act, Moses Olaiya Adejumo popular known as Baba Sala. After a few death rumors, Baba Sala eventually passed on at the ripe age of 84.

 

While his passing away is no more news, what has however become of interest is how such a huge personality who impacted so many lives through his art will be given a burial that will match his status. Ahead of his burial, different programs, all in his honor and memories have been springing up, and major among them which is coming up soon is, Baba Sala Mega Tribute Concert. The Event is slated for Thursday, 29th November 2018 at the prestigious Blue Roof, LTV Agidingbi, Ikeja – Lagos. Its kick off time is 4 pm.

 

The Mega Tribute Concert will be hosted by duo of Baba Sala’s Daughter, Oyindamola Adejumo Ayibiowu and frontline comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka while King Sunny Ade, will be the Chief Host. In the same vein, entertainers and people from all walks of life  in their numbers are expected to be on ground to spice up and add color to the event.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed is expected to be Chairman of the event with the Governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode and his amiable wife, Bolanle will be the special guests.

 

Baba Sala was a movie writer, actor, comedian, musician and producer.

In 1964 he was the head of a group known as Federal Rhythm Dandies. The band was the toast of Nigerian elites

The comedian discovered, tutored and mentored the lead guitarist who would later become known as King Sunny Ade.

By 1969, Moses Olaiya had become a full-time professional theatre comedian after he disbanded his Moses Olaiya Concert Party.
